Attleboro High Closed To Application Processing Due To Fire

The building is expected to reopen on Tuesday for transportation fee-for-service application processing.

ATTLEBORO, MA — Attleboro High School is expected to reopen to fee-for-service application processing on Tuesday after being closed Monday due to a weekend fire.

Attleboro Public Schools said FFS applications are expected to be processed from 8 a.m. to noon at the superintendent's lobby at Attleboro High after the two-alarm fire Saturday morning.

The Attleboro Sun-Chronicle reported that the fire was traced to a storage room on the third floor and involved "a heavy amount of smoke upstairs." Attleboro fire told the Sun-Chronicle that the fire was quickly extinguished, but that there was significant damage to the storage room estimated at around $150,000.

FFS applications will be accepted until Aug. 14. Social distancing and marketing guidelines will be enforced for those who come in to office hours. Payment will be collected in November with a deadline of Nov. 15 in place to maintain bus service for the year.

Once the state has announced transportation guidelines, there will be information published on the district web site indicating how the guidelines impact the district's FFS ability.

The city is in the process of building a new high school that is expected to be completed in 2022.
