Attleboro Power Outages Hit 10,000+ Amid Historic Storm

ATTLEBORO, MA — A "bomb cyclone" nor'easter knocked out power to thousands in Attleboro Friday. As of 5:30 p.m., there were 10,251 without power in Attleboro, according to National Grid. That figure represents about about 51 percent of the city.

More outages are expected later Friday into Saturday, as 60+ mph winds are anticipated.

The storm was expected to drop up to 6 inches of rain on parts of Southeastern Massachusetts, threatening coastal homes. Voluntary evacuations were ordered in Scituate, Duxbury and Plum Island. Governor Charlie Baker mobilized the National Guard and many coastal towns canceled school Friday.

Statewide, more than 180,000 lost power Friday and coastal roads up and down the state flooded.
