Attleboro Would Get Over $3.6m In State Transportation Bill

The state House and Senate agreed on a $16.5 billion transportation bill Wednesday.

ATTLEBORO, MA — The Massachusetts House and Senate agreed on a $16.5 billion transportation funding bill early Wednesday morning, which would provide $3.674 million for projects in Attleboro.

The bill, which was passed almost unanimously following a session that lasted until after 4 a.m., now heads to Gov. Charlie Baker's desk for approval.

The bill would provide $3,674,000 for the following projects in Attleboro, not including funding for projects along the Providence and Stoughton Commuter Rail Line:

  • Implementing traffic lights at the intersection of Thatcher St. and Rathbun Willard Dr.
  • Purchasing solar-powered pedestrian crossing signals
  • Redesigning of South Ave.
  • Replacing the pedestrian bridge and handicap-access ramp along the Ten Mile river adjacent to the Balfour riverwalk
  • Constructing a pedestrian walkway to Riverfront drive from Sixth St.
