The Beatles Guitarist Honored in Seekonk Festival

Harrifest attractions include performances from Beatles tribute bands, band memorabilia and an appearance from "Beatleness" author.

The Beatles lead guitarist will be honored in a local festival next month to mark the 50th anniversary of the band’s arrival in America.

The 12th annual Harrifest: A Tribute to George Harrison will feature a day of Beatlemania at the Clarion Inn in Seekonk.

The Beatle-themed festival will be held on Saturday, Nov 8 from 5 p.m. to 11:30 p.m.

More than 10 Beatles tribute bands are scheduled to perform music from The Beatles and George Harrison and

Performers include Berklee guitar professor and Beatle expert Lauren Passarelli, singer and songwriter Jeff Dicera, guitarist Thatcher Harrison, and bands such as The Anchors, The Oh No’s, The Forz, Studio Two, The Crash Land Band and more.

Custom Beatles artwork and memorabilia will be available for sale from vendors: Nevermind Music Shop, Mick Lawless, Charles Rosenay of Liverpool Tours, Bill Lastomirsky, Crazy Catts and Phil Taylor, For You Glue, Kathy Joyce, Alison Johnson and the Mushroom Lady and more.

The author of “Beatleness” will make an appearance at Harrifest to talk about her new book.

Sociologist Candy Leonard interviewed hundreds of Beatles fans in her book to explain the relationship between the band and their fans. She will sign copies of “Beatleness” during Harrifest.

All event proceeds will be donated to the Southcoast Visiting Nurse Association Hospice Program.
