Bishop Feehan Girls Soccer Team Celebrates First State Title

Junior Francesca Yanchuk's goal in the 80th minute capped an undefeated season in thrilling fashion for the Shamrocks.

ATTLEBORO, MA — The Bishop Feehan girls soccer capped an undefeated season with a thrilling, last-minute victory in the Division 1 state championship game Saturday night in Worcester. Junior Francesca Yanchuk, one of the leading scorers in the state all fall, made her final goal of the season one for the ages when she scored in the 80th minute to secure a 3-2 triumph against Westfield.

It is the first state championship in Feehan program history as the Shamrocks finished season at 23-0-1.

Yanchuk scored the first goal of the game for a 1-0 Feehan lead, then assisted on the second goal to Kelly Coady for a 2-1 lead early in the second half. Westfield tied it with about 10 minutes left in the game before Yanchuk's dramatic game-winner.

The victory led to a massive celebration on the Worcester State field that carried over to the school week for the newly crowned champions of the state.
