First Date Turns Into Stupid Cupid Caper Disaster
Woman who met a man on a dating app became an unintentional getaway driver in a 2016 North Attleboro bank robbery.
ATTLEBORO, MA – Here is a cautionary tale for those looking to take a chance on love online this Valentine's Day. A first date with someone you met on a dating app might be the start of a long romance. Or, in the case of a woman in North Attleboro, it might lead to you being the unintentional getaway driver during a bank robbery.
That's what happened in a nightmare of a first date in 2016 when CNN reports Christopher Castillo asked the Attleboro woman to stop at the Bristol County Savings Bank in North Attleboro, then a few minutes later came running out of the bank with $1,000 in cash, and demanding that she speed away from the scene.
Castillo was sentenced to five years in prison for the robbery and resisting arrest, while the local woman — who was not prosecuted — has a story that could end all Valentine's Day debates on worst first dates.

The woman told police she picked up Castillo at his parents' home in Chepachet, RI after they agreed to meet for a date and then drove 30 minutes to North Attleboro. The first warning flag might have been that he drank wine in the passenger's seat on the drive, but things got real weird when she stopped at the bank, Castillo went inside, then soon came running out sweating, wearing sunglasses and a hat, and showing a gun.
Reports said the woman told police Castillo told her to speed away, and in a panic she did. But once North Attleboro police began a pursuit, she pulled over and got out of the car. Police pulled Castillo from the car as they said he became violent and spat on them. Police said a search of the car discovered an antique, .44-caliber handgun, and the hat and sunglasses that matched the description of the bank robber.
