8-Vehicle I-95 Crash Seriously Injures At Least 3

A crash on one side of the highway resulted in two cars crossing the median and causing an 8-car crash.

ATTLEBORO, MA — At least three people were seriously injured in an eight-vehicle crash early Friday that forced a temporary closure of I-95 North.

State police said that around 6:20 a.m. a 29-year-old Roslindale woman was driving her Toyota Corolla in the right lane of I-95 South. For reasons still being investigated, she veered into the middle lane and collided with a Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck. After the initial crash, both vehicles were sent across the median to the northbound side and crashed with six other vehicles.

The Roslindale woman and her passenger, a 25-year-old Brockton woman, were brought to Rhode Island Hospital with serious injuries. The driver of the Silverado, a 38-year-old Tewskbury man, was taken to Sturdy Memorial Hospital in Attleboro with minor injuries.

A 57-year-old Pawtucket, R.I., woman, 29-year-old Randolph man, 25-year-old Attleboro, 55-year-old Southington, CT woman, 26-year-old Pawtucket woman and 25-year-old Providence woman, were all taken to Rhode Island Hospital and Sturdy Memorial Hospital for treatment of injuries ranging from minor to serious.

Route 95 Northbound was completely closed for about an hour for investigation and cleanup. The scene was completely clear at about 8:30 a.m. The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
