Injured Attleboro Hockey Player Makes CCL All-Star Team

Bishop Feehan's AJ Quetta, who suffered a serious spinal cord injury during a game in January, is a Central Catholic League all-star.

ATTLEBORO, MA — A Bishop Feehan hockey player seriously injured during a game last month has been named to the Central Catholic League's All-Star Team. AJ Quetta, who suffered a serious spinal cord injury that left him partially paralyzed, was selected for the 2020-21 winter team.

Quetta was injured Jan. 26 in a game in Springfield when he went head-first into the boards and was unable to move. A GoFundMe page has raised nearly $1 million for his treatment and rehabilitation.

Quetta thanked supporters last week in his first public statement since the injury.

"You all give me a reason to keep fighting and keep pushing," said the North Providence, R.I. resident in a video released through hockey writer Joe McDonald.

A golf tournament fundraiser in support of Quetta's recovery will be held May 17. It will be sponsored by the Boston Bruins Foundation and hosted by New England Patriots player Patrick Chung.
