More Candidates Qualify for Council Election
Incumbents Mark Cooper and Walter Thibodeau as well as challenger Rick Correia will be on fall ballot.

There will be at least two people competing for the Ward 2 city council seat this fall in the Attleboro election. Incumbent Mark Cooper and challenger Rick Correia were certified for the election this week. The two ran against each other for the seat in a special election two years ago, with Cooper winning.
Also qualifying for the ballot this week was Ward 1 representative Walter Thibodeau. Nobody has pulled papers as of Thursday to challenge the eight-term councilor. Thibodeau had no competitors in 2011, when he was elected to his first term as Ward 1 representative after serving at-large for 14 years.
Below is a list of people who have pulled papers for various council contests. Those marked with asterisks have returned the papers and are certified for the election as of Thursday afternoon. The deadline to enter the election is July 30.
