Obituary: Edwin Scanlon

He was a receiver for The Sun Chronicle for more than 25 years.

Edwin J. Scanlon of South Avenue in Attleboro died Thursday at Sturdy Memorial Hospital. He was 61.

Scanlon was the husband of Alice (Peterson) Scanlon. He was born in Worcester to William J. and Theresa Scanlon.

He was a receiver for The Sun Chronicle for more than 25 years before retiring two years ago.

Scanlon has lived in Attleboro since 1981, coming from Boston. He enjoyed listening to music and was a sports fan who liked the New England Patriots and Boston Red Sox. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.

In addition to his wife, Scanlon is survived by his sons Jimmy, John, Steven and his wife Anita and Jason and his wife Jamie; brother William and his wife Linda; sisters Lucy Parris, Patricia Creighton and Mary Scanlon; grandchildren Nick, Emiley and Lynda as well as seven nieces and nephews.

Scanlon was preceded in death by his sons George and Joshua as well as his sister Nancy.

Funeral arrangements are being handled by Foley-Hathaway Funeral Home. All services are private.
