Norton, MA — Thunderstorms will roll through Norton Friday night to kick off the July 4th weekend.

Rain is expected to start around 7 p.m.; some of the thunderstorms could be severe, according to the National Weather Service.

Things are expected to clear up early Saturday and the rest of the holiday weekend looks perfect.

  • ISOLATED TO WIDELY SCATTERED SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS ARE EXPECTED TO DEVELOP THIS AFTERNOON...BUT THE GREATER CONCERN IS FOR A POSSIBLE LINE OF SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS MOVING INTO THE REGION FROM THE WEST LATE THIS AFTERNOON AND ESPECIALLY THIS EVENING.
  • A FEW OF THE THUNDERSTORMS EARLY THIS EVENING HAVE THE POTENTIAL TO BE STRONG TO SEVERE. DAMAGING WIND...DANGEROUS CLOUD TO GROUND LIGHTNING AND HEAVY RAINFALL ARE THE PRIMARY THREATS. HOWEVER...LARGE HAIL AND A BRIEF ISOLATED TORNADO ARE ALSO POSSIBLE IN WESTERN NEW ENGLAND.
  • TIMING OF THE STRONGEST STORMS WILL BE 6 TO 9 PM ACROSS WESTERN NEW ENGLAND...AND IF THE STORMS HOLD TOGETHER THEY WILL REACH BOSTON AND PROVIDENCE BETWEEN 9 PM AND MIDNIGHT.
