Veteran Attleboro Firefighter Laid To Rest
Thomas Cannon, an Attleboro firefighter for more than 30 years, died after going into cardiac arrest at a fire station.

ATTLEBORO, MA — A veteran Attleboro firefighter was laid to rest over the weekend. Thomas Cannon, a lifelong South Attleboro resident, worked for the fire department for more than 30 years. He died May 14 after going into cardiac arrest while working at a fire station. He was 63 years old.
"He served our department with distinction and pride," Attleboro fire Chief Scott Lachance said in a statement.
Cannon left behind a wife and three sons. His son Seth followed in his father's footsteps, becoming a firefighter in Sandwich.

A memorial service was held Friday. His family said donations in his memory can be made to the Attleboro Professional Firefighters Union Local 848.

Thomas A. Cannon AFD, 63, of South Attleboro passed away unexpectedly on Monday, May 14, 2018 in the Rhode Island Hospital, Providence, RI. He was the devoted husband of Alice (Marcil) Cannon of South Attleboro.
Born on April 2, 1955 in Attleboro, MA he was a loving son to the late Albert and Ruth (Oldham) Cannon. Tom was a lifelong resident of South Attleboro and a graduate of Attleboro High School. After high school he attended the Boston Fire Academy and became a firefighter for the City of Attleboro, proudly serving his community for the past 30 plus years. He was a member of the Attleboro Firefighters PFFM Local 848 and an avid seasonal camper and who could always be easily located due to his relentless whistling.
In addition to his wife, Alice, Tom is survived by his three sons, Lucas Cannon and his fiancé Andrea, Jacob Cannon and his wife Kathryn and Seth Cannon and his wife Carilyn; his cherished grandchildren, Andrew Cannon, Jane Cannon, Brooke Cannon, Kate Cannon, Keira Cannon and Thomas Cannon; his two sisters, Janice Roy and Joyce Chalifoux; a brother, Michael Cannon; his mother-in-law, Alice Seccareccia; his special sister-in-law, Kellie Marcil; his three brother-in-laws, Thomas Marcil, Kenneth Marcil and Butch Marcil; he is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Tom’s memory may be made to the Attleboro Professional Firefighters Union Local 848, 100 Union Street, Attleboro, MA 02703.
