No one was in the building where firefighters found the chimney on the first floor.

BOSTON, MA — A Beacon Street building collapsed Monday morning, forcing authorities to block off a busy Back Bay block.

Firefighters responding to 361 Beacon St. found a chimney on the first floor of the four-story brownstone, which was under construction. The building was not occupied and no injures have been reported.

The block of Beacon Street from Gloucester to Fairfield was closed to traffic. It reopened shortly before 1 p.m., police said.
