FoMu "Alternative Ice Cream" Shop Pops Up On Newbury Street

Attention, Back Bay ice cream lovers: FoMU is bringing its "alternative ice cream" to Newbury Street for just a few months.

The Allston-based purveyor of delicious desserts opens its temporary location at 144 Newbury St. Friday, according to its Facebook page. It will stay at that location through Oct. 2, open daily from about 2-10 p.m. to start, according to FoMu (although hours are "in flux.")

The ice cream shop has a brick-and-mortar spot at 617 Centre St. in Jamaica Plain, as well as its original location is Cambridge Street in Allston. It specializes in a coconut-based, non-dairy ice cream and other products.

FoMu flavors include malted cookie dough, pistachio with lemon-zested shortbread, and cherry amaretto.
