Prepare Yourself: Apple's New iPhones Out Friday

A new iPhone or Apple product is celebrated as a holiday for millions of tech lovers, so much so that each Apple release typically leads to big lines at places like the Apple Store at 815 Boylston St. in Back Bay.

Both the new iPhone 5s and the 5c — the more affordable version of the smartphone — will go on sale Friday in the first major Apple release in roughly a year.

While we don't have any record of serious incidents surround Apple releases in Boston, the same can't be said of at least one nearby store.

One man was arrested and numerous others were asked to leave the Mall at Rockingham Park in Salem, N.H. in March 2012 when a crowd waiting in line for the new iPad got out of control.

An estimated crowd of 1,000 people awaiting that iPad release became unruly and caused a crushing issue at the mall entrance doors. At that time, local police said they would work with the mall and Apple to make sure nothing like that would happen again in Salem.
