There was no explosive in the package left outside Old South Church.

Boston Police briefly closed roads around Copley Square, the center of today’s First Night Boston celebration, after reports of a suspicious package outside Old South Church.
Police closed Boylston Street from Dartmouth to Exeter streets around 11 a.m. to investigate the package. There turned out to be no bomb, and the roads were soon reopened.
Police are focusing on the area around the First Night celebration as security is heightened, WHDH, 7 News reports. Uniformed and plain clothes police officers will be spread out over the area to help keep revelers safe. Bomb sniffing dogs will also be roaming the area.
