Shooting in Back Bay Leads Police On Car Chase
Police arrested a man in connection with the chase, but not the shooting.

BOSTON, MA — Police arrested a man following a shooting Tuesday morning - not for the shooting but in connection with a car chase that ended with the driver allegedly tossing a gun out the window along the way and slamming into several parked cars.
Police said they're still investigating into the initial call for the non-fatal shooting.
At about 2:26 a.m. on Tuesday Oct. 3, officers got a call about a person shot in the area of 47 Huntington Avenue in the Back Bay. When the got to the scene they found a man suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. The man was transported to an area hospital for treatment of his injuries which were not considered life threatening, according to police.

Police got a description four suspects who were seen running away from the scene. They also got a detailed description of the suspects' vehicle, including the license plate of the black Kia Sorento.
Shortly after police found a car matching the description speeding inbound on Melnea Cass Boulevard near Albany Street. An officer activated his lights and sirens and stopped the suspect vehicle with the assistance of additional responding units in the area of Melnea Cass Boulevard and Hampden Street. As the officers were walking towards the vehicle, the operator, later identified as David Fernanades, 30, of Braintree suddenly sped away and turned right on Mass Ave. and then down several side streets in an attempt to remain out of sight of police the area.

While speeding outbound on Norfolk Avenue, the suspect vehicle suddenly swerved into the opposite lane of travel, directly toward a police car. Police had to swerve to avoid a collision, they said.
The car then sped on, before crashing into several parked cars in the area of 198 Norfolk Avenue. Officers later retraced the path of flight of the suspect vehicle and recovered a loaded .40 caliber Ruger handgun in the area of 38 Norfolk Avenue, according to a release.
The operator and three passengers inside the suspect vehicle were all transported to area hospitals for treatment of multiple injuries which are considered non-life threatening.
The driver was booked after receiving treatment. The suspect will appear in Roxbury District Court on numerous charges including Refusal to Submit to a Police Officer, Negligent Operation of a Motor Vehicle, Assault by Means of a Dangerous Weapon (To Wit: Motor Vehicle) and Operating a Motor Vehicle After Revocation or Suspension.
