William J. Ostiguy High School Celebrates 9th Graduating Class
Youth recovering from addiction find support to graduate from high school in sobriety on June 4.

Action for Community Development, Inc.’s (ABCD) William J. Ostiguy High School is proud to celebrate the achievements of its 9th graduating class, according to a press statement.
For almost a decade, the national model recovery high school has provided a safe, sober, and supportive school environment where youth in recovery from substance abuse can develop the skills and strengths needed for personal, academic, vocational and community success.
Graduates will walk across the AMC Boston Common Theater stage at 175 Tremont St, Boston, 02111 on Thursday, June 4 at 11 a.m.

ABCD President/CEO John J. Drew explains, “Ostiguy High graduates are our heroes. Knowing the tremendous odds they faced as they sought to lead drug and alcohol free lives, these students not only achieved their academic goals but serve as examples to the thousands of young persons struggling with addiction across the state - recovery is possible, help is available.”
In collaboration with the Gavin Foundation and Boston Public Schools, Ostiguy High School serves as a beacon of hope to students and their families in light of the alarming opiate-addiction crises in Massachusetts. The school is a testament to the success students achieve when they receive educational support and substance abuse counseling in a sober environment. Ostiguy High School integrates a high school academic curriculum, aligned with Massachusetts standards and MCAS testing protocols, while helping students in recovery develop supportive life skills,

“I could not be prouder of the graduates at Ostiguy High.” Said John P. McGahan, ABCD Chair of the ABCD Board of Directors and President of the Gavin Foundation. “They have persevered and supported each other in their recovery and now they get to share the rewards of their hard work together, a high school diploma earned through rigorous academic achievement. They are living proof that recovery is possible when proper supports are in place.”
Roger Oser, Ostiguy High School Principal explains, “Surrounded by caring staff and their peers in recovery, students learn to thrive as they develop the skills they need to lead sober lives and pursue the dreams that were at one time unattainable due to addiction. We are proud to watch our students graduate having witnessed the personal struggles they overcame to reach this goal.”
ABCD thanks the leadership of Mayor Martin J. Walsh who long advocated for a recovery high school in Boston. For more information on the ABCD Ostiguy High School visit www.ostiguyhigh.org.
