3 In Isolation For Coronavirus At Barnstable Schools

Since Sept. 16, Barnstable Public Schools have seen five COVID-19 cases, according to the district's community dashboard on its website.

BARNSTABLE, MA — School officials reported that two Barnstable students and one staff member are in isolation after testing positive for the coronavirus.

On Tuesday morning, the district was made aware of a Barnstable High School student that tested positive for the virus, Superintendent Meg Mayo-Brown said in a letter to families. The other student in isolation was reported on Oct. 14, and the district was made aware of the staff member's positive test on Oct. 8.

Since Sept. 16, Barnstable Public Schools have seen five COVID-19 cases, according to the district's community dashboard on its website. Three of the cases were from students, and two were from staff.

In the letter sent to families, parents were asked to monitor their children for any symptoms of the virus.

Mayo-Brown in her email said state and federal privacy laws forbid the district from disclosing any personal information on who tested positive in the school community. With the most recent student at Barnstable High School, Mayo-Brown said contract tracers did not identify any close contacts at the high school.
