7-Year-Old Girl Hit By Car In Hyannis

Witnesses told police two young girls ran across the street in front of them, and then a third girl ran into the road and was hit by a car.

HYANNIS, MA — A 7-year-old girl was injured after police said she was hit by a car in Hyannis Thursday night.

Just before 8 p.m., police were called to the 300th block of West Main Street. Witnesses told police two young girls ran across the street in front of them, and then a third girl ran into the road and was hit by a car. The driver, a 21-year-old Hyannis man, stayed on scene until police arrived.

Police said the girl's injuries didn't appear serious, but emergency officials brought her to Hasbro Children's Hospital in Providence, Rhode Island, as a precaution.

Police said no charges are expected to be filed against the driver.
