BARNSTABLE, MA — Barnstable's Labor Day weekend fireworks have been canceled amid concerns over the coronavirus pandemic.

The fireworks were originally scheduled for July 4, but were postponed to Sept. 5. But town officials said orders from Gov. Charlie Baker limiting outdoor crowds have canceled the display.

"Our first priority is the health and well-being of our community, therefore the town of Barnstable fireworks which had been postponed to the Saturday (September 5, 2020) of Labor Day weekend have been canceled until allowed by Governor’s Orders and Directives," town officials said in a statement.
