Barnstable School Calendar 2017-18: First Day Of School, Vacations, Conferences

The first day of school in Barnstable is August 30 for grades 1-12 and August 31 for kindergarten and September 5 for pre-K. Feel free to mark it on your calendar as one of the most dreaded days of the year for students and teachers — and feel free not to feel guilty about marking it as one of your favorites. The Barnstable Public School District has released its 2017-2018 calendar for public schools.

The calendar includes important dates such as winter and spring vacations, religious holidays, federal holidays, early dismissals and parent-teacher conferences.

Here is the full list of dates to know for this school year:

• 8/29: Staff Day
• 8/30: First Day of School for Grades 1-12, Orientation for Kindergarten and Pre-K
• 8/31: First Day for Kindergarten, Orientation for Pre-K

September

• 9/1: No School
• 9/4: No School (Labor Day)
• 9/5: First Day of School for Pre-K
• 9/13: Half Day for Students (District PD Day)

October

• 10/6: No School for Students (District PD Day)
• 10/9: No School (Columbus Day)

November

• 11/10: No School (Veterans’ Day)
• 11/22 - 11/24: No School (Thanksgiving Recess)
• 11/29: Half Day for Students (District PD Day)

December

• 12/5: Pre-K - 7 Half Day for Students (Parent Conferences)
• 12/22 - 1/1: No School (Holiday Recess)

January

• 1/1: No School (Holiday Recess)
• 1/2: School Reopens
• 1/10: Half Day for Students (District PD Day)
• 1/15: No School (Martin Luther King Day)

February

• 2/14: Half Day for Students (District PD Day)
