Barnstable County Commissioner Ron Beaty Urges Voters to Reject Ballot Question #2 on Ranked Choice Voting

Cape Cod, MA - Sunday, September 20, 2020: Barnstable County Commissioner Ron Beaty stated today that he strongly opposes Massachusetts Ballot Question #2 on “Ranked Choice Voting and urge voters to reject it.

Beaty said, “First, in my view, it is actually nothing more than a political scam being promoted by the radical Massachusetts Democrat Party.”

Commissioner Beaty stated, “Second, ranked choice voting is a scheme to disconnect elections from issues and allow candidates with marginal support from voters to win.”

“Third, it obscures true debates and issue-driven dialogs among candidates and eliminates genuine binary choices between two top-tier candidates.” explained Beaty

Ron Beaty continued, “Finally, it also disenfranchises voters, because ballots that do not include the two ultimate finalists are cast aside to manufacture a faux majority for the winner.”

Beaty summed up, “For all of aforementioned reasons, I strongly urge voters to resoundingly reject Question #2 on Ranked Choice Voting this November!”
