NEW YORK — Federal prosecutors filed charges Monday against a Bronx man, accusing him of harboring a fugitive who shot a Massachusetts State Police trooper and lying to U.S. Marshals.

Grant Grandison, 35, was charged with making false statements to federal agents and harboring or concealing a person from arrest. Officials say those lies led to Friday morning's shootout, which left Andre K. Sterling, 35, dead and injured two Marshals.

U.S. Marshals and New York City police officers went to Grandison's apartment Friday believing Sterling was hiding there. Grandison, according to court documents, said no one was in the apartment with him. Sterling shot and injured two Marshals when they entered the apartment before he was shot and killed.
