Cape Cod Airport Wants Resident Input On Master Plan
Airport officials want your help making sure it meets the needs of Cape Cod travelers for the next 20 years.

HYANNIS, MA — Cape Cod Gateway Airport officials have asked for the community's input as they develop a 20-year master plan.
The master plan intends to ensure the airport, formerly known as Barnstable Municipal Airport, continues to safely and efficiently meet the aviation needs of Cape Cod.
"The preparation of an airport master plan is required by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) in order to plan for the future and highlight airport projects needed in the future to meet demand, including rehabilitation of existing infrastructure," said airport Manager Katie Servis in a statement. "The plan is a comprehensive study of an airport that considers the needs of the airfield, local general aviation, corporate aviation, commercial aviation and the community over the next 20 years as well as including recommendations for promoting compatible land use around the airport and to maximize opportunities to help support the airport’s financial future."

Servis said community input is an important part of the process, and normally, there would be in-person meetings regarding the matter. But because of the coronavirus pandemic, there will be public workshops on the airport's YouTube channel.
Officials also set up a dedicated email address, HYAMasterPlan@mjinc.com, to receive questions or comments from the public regarding the master plan for the airport.
