Cape Cod Hospitals In Urgent Need of O Negative Blood
Hospital officials said people with O negative blood are considered universal donors, since that blood type can help any patient.
HYANNIS, MA — Cape Cod Healthcare officials said their hospitals are in urgent need of donations of O negative blood.
While all blood types are needed on a regular basis, there is specifically a shortage of O negative blood at Cape Cod Hospital and Falmouth Hospital.
Hospital officials said people with O negative blood are considered universal donors, since the blood can be transfused to any patient in need, regardless of their blood type. This puts O negative donors in the unique position to help people who are in critical need of blood.
