Cape Cod Transit Launching Uber-Style App
The ride-hailing app for the Cape Cod Transit Authority is expected to be available in every town across the Cape.
BARNSTABLE, MA — The Cape Cod Regional Transit Authority has developed a smart phone app, similar to Uber and Lyft, allowing people to get rides around the Cape. Transit officials said The SmartDART app will allow riders to be picked up and brought to nearby places to the nearest bus route. The app is expected to be operational in all 15 Cape Cod towns by summer, according to the Cape Cod Times, which first reported this story.
The rides will costs $3 per person and will not have any transfer costs to CCRTA buses, transit officials said.
“This is a game-changer in the way the public accesses transportation on Cape Cod,” Transit Administrator Thomas Cahir said, also noting that the CCRTA is the first regional transit agency to develop an app for on-demand service.
