Cape Cod Woman Killed In I-93 Crash

State Police said a Dennis woman died in a crash when she struck a Brewster ambulance on I-93 in Dorchester.

BOSTON — A Cape Cod woman died in a crash on Interstate 93 in Dorchester Saturday night.

Around 7:40 p.m., emergency officials were called to I-93 northbound near exit 14 when a Nissan Altima struck a traffic barrier, went out of control and hit a Brewster ambulance that was transporting a patient. Massachusetts State Police said the driver, Ashley Rose Jimenez, 39, of Dennis, died at the scene.

Four other people were taken to Boston Medical Center with minor injuries. Those injured included two Brewster medics, the woman they were transporting and a man driving another vehicle involved in the crash.

Earlier on Saturday, State Police said they received reports of a vehicle matching the description of the Nissan Altima being driven erratically on Route 3. State Police said they found small alcohol bottles inside the Nissan, some of which were open.

State Police said the exact cause of the crash remains under investigation.
