This Cape Cod Business Got The Most Federal Coronavirus Money
The federal government gave about $12.7 million to two Hyannis companies for coronavirus relief efforts since March.
HYANNIS, MA — The federal government has sent about $12.8 million to Cape Cod companies for coronavirus relief efforts since Congress passed the CARES Act in March.
The bulk of the funding in Barnstable County, about $12.6 million, was awarded to Williams Building Company.
Williams Building Company has received contracts under the CARES Act under the Department of the Veterans Affairs for commercial and institutional building construction and electrical contractors, according to the Federal Procurement Data System.

Williams Building Company, founded in 2001, specializes in constructing multi-family affordable housing with many of their projects helping veterans.
A Falmouth institution also received a contract and was awarded over $80,000 in CARES Act Funding. The Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution received the contract under the U.S. Navy, and it went towards research and development in physical, engineering and like science.

Cape Air, an airline that operates out of Barnstable Municipal Airport, also claimed about 33,600 under veterans affairs for scheduled passenger air transportation.
Congress passed the $2 trillion Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act on March 27. In addition to direct aid to people who lost their jobs and the Paycheck Protection Program to help small businesses avoid laying off workers, the act included direct government spending for fighting the coronavirus.
