Hyannis Marathon 2017: Heavy Traffic Delays Sunday

BARNSTABLE, MA — The 34th annual Hyannis Marathon is Sunday. Police warned there will be heavy traffic in the morning and afternoon. The race starts at 10 a.m. Most intersections along the route will be closed to traffic for hours.

Barnstable police said motorists can expected heavy traffic in these areas:

• Hyannis: Sea Street, Gosnald Street, Old Colony Boulevard and Ocean Street.
• Hyannisport: The intersection of Smith Street, Marstons Avenue and Scudder Avenue.
• Centerville: Craigville Beach Road, Main Street, Old Stage Road, Pine Street and Strawberry Hill Road.

This is the race day schedule:

• 7:30 a.m.-4 p.m.: Race Expo at Hyannis Ballroom
• 9:30 a.m.: Marathon early start
• 10 a.m.: Marathon, half marathon, team relay, and 10K start
• 12 p.m. Awards ceremony at Hyannis Ballroom
• 1 p.m.- 4 p.m. Post-race party at The 19th Hole in Hyannis
