See The Spectator Rules For Barnstable High School Sports
Want to see your kids play high school sports this winter? Make sure you know the rules.
BARNSTABLE, MA — Winter sports are officially underway, and spectators will be allowed at Barnstable High School games, but there are certain rules that will need to be followed amid the coronavirus pandemic.
The rules include the following:
- Fans will only be allowed to attend home games. No admission will be allowed at any away venue.
- In order to attend a home boys or girls ice hockey or basketball (varsity or JV) contest, each spectator must have a Barnstable High School athletic badge. Every ice hockey and basketball player was issued two badges, to be distributed to their designated family members. Badges are not to be traded or transferred. Upon entry into the game, each spectator will be required to show their badge to the gate attendant and scan and fill out an associated QR code. This information is being collected for contract tracing purposes.
- Outdoor facility doors will open 20 minutes prior to game time for opposing teams and 10 minutes prior to game time for spectators.
- The gymnasium will need to be cleared immediately following the conclusion of the first athletic contest. This will allow the high school custodial staff time to clean and sanitize the surfaces prior to the next contest. School officials ask that all spectators exit the gymnasium through the same doors that they entered from and meet their children outside.
- Masks are required and social distancing will be enforced (6 feet).
For those that can't be at the game, all varsity hockey and basketball games will be live-streamed on local cable access.
