W. Barnstable Fire Rescues Trapped Driver From Burning Dump Truck

BARNSTABLE, MA — A dump truck caught fire on Route 6 in West Barnstable, trapping the driver and sending them and another person to the hospital.

Fire officials said the truck's engine caught fire Wednesday afternoon when the truck crashed into another car, trapping the driver in the cab. Firefighters extinguished the flames and extricated the driver.

One person was flown to Tufts Medical Center in Boston with serious injuries, while another was taken to Cape Cod Hospital in Hyannis.

Massachusetts State Police and firefighters from Brewster and Joint Base Cape Cod assisted with the rescue.
