What's Open, Closed On Christmas In Barnstable

BARNSTABLE, MA — Friday is Christmas Day and after the year we've all been through, it's safe to say we could use a little Christmas. While many offices and town buildings have switched to remote due to the pandemic, several stores, businesses and services will be closed for the holiday.

Here's a list of what is opened and closed on the holiday. This list is ever-expanding so feel free to shoot us a note or comment below with more intel.

• Libraries: Closed
• Post Office: Closed

• Gas Stations: Open
• Trash: Delayed a day
• Town offices: Closed
• MBTA: Sunday schedule

Here's where it gets tricky. Many restaurants, retail stores, and grocery stores will be closed, but not all. Here are some details on a few to get you started:

Retail stores:

• CVS: Most locations are open from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. Christmas Day. Find locations on the CVS website.
• Target: Most stores will close at 8 p.m. Christmas Eve. All stores are closed Christmas Day.
• Walmart: Most stores will be open until 6 p.m. Christmas Eve. All stores are closed Christmas Day.
• BJ's Wholesale Club: Most stores will be open from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Christmas Eve and closed Dec. 25.
• Costco: Most stores will be open limited hours Christmas Eve, and all stores will be closed Christmas Day. Call ahead to confirm hours with your local store.

Supermarkets:

• ALDI: Stores will be open Christmas Eve, but hours will vary by location; closed on Christmas Day.
• Big Y: All locations will close at 6 p.m. on Christmas Eve and be closed on Christmas.
• Market Basket: All Massachusetts locations open 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Christmas Eve and closed on Christmas Day.
• Shaw's: Most Massachusetts locations open until 6 p.m. Christmas Eve and closed on Christmas.
• Stop & Shop: All stores will close at 6 p.m. Christmas Eve. All stores are closed Christmas Day.
• Trader Joe's: All stores will close at 6 p.m. Christmas Eve. Stores are closed Christmas Day.
• Wegmans: All stores will open as normal and close at 6 p.m. Christmas Eve. All stores are closed Christmas Day.
• Whole Foods: Most stores will be open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Christmas Eve. All stores are closed Christmas Day.
