Pearson was there to represent what he calls "the silent vote." He told Patch that in states where President-elect Donald Trump won by tens of thousands, "voter suppression was in the hundreds of thousands." When asked about his main concerns about a Trump administration, Pearson exclaimed, "I'm African-American. He wants to initiate stop-and-frisk nationwide, which a court in New York has already called unconstitutional."

Paula Rooney gave an impassioned speech about people not taking the election seriously. She told Patch, "They're talking about dismantling public education. Any vote by the electors tonight for Trump will be for fascism." Rooney has a 9-year-old daughter in the Massachusetts public school system.
