Art Competition to Showcase Works by Local Artists at New Trac75 Apartment Building in Allston

Winning Works to Be Displayed along Braintree Street; Entry Deadline: July 10

In a first-of-its-kind art competition, developers of the new Trac75 apartment complex at 75 Braintree Street in Boston’s Allston neighborhood are inviting Allston/Brighton-based artists to submit original works to the ‘On Trac’ Neighborhood Art Competition.

The first prize is $250. Second prize is $150. Other winners will receive gift cards. All winning entries will enjoy seeing their work exhibited publicly, gain exposure, be featured in future publicity, and earn what may be the best prize of all: bragging rights. Works can be on any theme, though local themes will earn extra points. Display cases are about 36” x 60”.

Jake Grossman, a partner in Trac75 (www.Trac75.com), says, “This unique initiative is designed to promote the arts, call attention to the rebirth and vitality of this neighborhood, signal completion of the building, and welcome the first residents who will begin moving in August 1st.” The memorable name refers to the street address and the new T station tracks nearby.

A series of large display windows along the sidewalk on Braintree Street was incorporated into the building design by Neshamkin French Architects. Grossman says, “We know local artists will be excited to have their works presented here for the public to enjoy.”

Located just two blocks from New Balance’s new headquarters and sports complex, and 650,000 SF of new office space, Trac75’s 80 studio, one-, two-, and three-bedroom apartments offer top-of-the line amenities in a highly desirable location close to the Boston Landing T station and Allston’s many restaurants, shops, and entertainment venues. Residents will enjoy perks like onsite Zipcars, a roof deck with views of the Boston skyline, fitness center, theatre/media center, and enclosed parking. Pets are allowed and there’s a pet play area and washing station. “Due to its proximity to Boston and Cambridge and to suburban office locations, we believe this is the epicenter of the region’s 21st century development,” Grossman says. Many units are already leased.
