Beloved Beacon Hill Restaurant, Building For Sale For $4 Million
The Hungry I has been on Charles Street for more than a quarter-century.
BEACON HILL, MA — After more than a quarter century, the chef and owner of The Hungry I, the beloved Beacon Hill restaurant known for its intimate romancing ambiance, is selling his restaurant.
The Hungry I on Charles Street together with three apartments is going for about $4 million, including the restaurant's liquor license and entertainment license. It was listed on Realtor.com on May 30.
Peter Ballarin comes from a long line of bakers tracing back into the foothills of the Italian Dolomites, according to the Hungry I restaurant.

Ballarin grew up working in his father’s Massachusetts bakery before going to the Culinary Institute and then coming back to open The Hungry I more than 25 years ago in the Beacon Hill brownstone.
