Curt Schilling 'Going to Run' For Senate ... On One Condition

It's official, Curt Schilling told a Rhode Island radio host Tuesday morning: If his wife agrees to it, he'll jump into the 2018 race to try and wrest the Massachusetts Senate seat from Elizabeth Warren's grasp.

In the interview with WPRO, he announced: "I've made my decision, I'm going to run."

But there's a "but."

Schilling says he hasn't yet spoken with his wife, "And ultimately, it's going to come down to how her and I feel this would affect our marriage and our kids," he said, according to a transcript provided by The Hill.

Schilling has courted controversy since his departure from professional baseball, getting himself booted from ESPN this year after a series of inflammatory comments and one deeply derogatory meme. He's since aligned himself with Donald Trump, most recently talking himself into a creepy corner attempting to defend the Republican nominee's past comments about a young girl.

Oh, and there was that time he irresponsibly, publicly leaped to the conclusion that a New Jersey train crash was terrorism.

Schilling first floated the idea of running for public office earlier this year, posting on Facebook that he's seeking state office, first, then the presidency. He later honed in on Warren's seat as the object of his prospective run.

It should go without saying that his would be a tough race in heavily Democratic Massachusetts against an incumbent senator with a solid base of public support and strong national reputation.

A September poll pitted the two against one another in a hypothetical match-up, and found that Warren led Schilling with 62 percent support.
