Emerson College Student Dead After Falling from South End Roof

Justin Amorratanasuchad, a junior, was working on a film project at the time.

A 21-year-old Emerson student is dead after falling from a roof on Columbus Avenue Sunday morning, police reported.

The incident, which took place around 10:45 a.m., appears to have been accidental, police said. The victim was deceased when officers arrived.

The victim, Justin Amorratanasuchad, was a junior at Emerson College where he majored in film production. According to a statement issued by college president Jackie Liebergott, Amorratanasuchad was working on a film project at the time of his death.

“I wish to express my deepest sympathies to all who knew and loved Justin,” Liebergott wrote. “A service to remember and celebrate Justin's life will be organized at an appropriate time, about which more details will be forthcoming.”

The accident took place off of the college's campus, at 610 Columbus Avenue, next door to Darryl’s Corner Bar and Kitchen. The building is four stories tall.

Before attending Emerson, Amorratanasuchad studied at Ballard High School where he washonored by the National Student Television Awards for a satirical short “Spaced Out."
