Firefighters Rescue Woman, Child Near State House

Firefighters were called to the building that sits at the corner of Beacon and Park streets Saturday morning.

BEACON HILL, MA — Firefighters rescued a woman and a child from the third floor of a building that caught fire early Saturday morning, when the building they were in caught fire. One firefighter was sent to the hospital.

Around 6 a.m. firefighters were called to 22 Beacon Street for a report of a fire. When they got there, they saw smoke coming from the first floor of the four-story building. The building has businesses on the first floor and apartments above that.

Crews were able to rescue a woman and a child from the third floor and EMTs were evaluating them. Officials described the injuries to the firefighter as minor.

Damages to the building are estimated to be around $100,000.
