Graffiti Found On State House Building

'It was unclear if [the vandalism] was truly politically-motivated or more of an unstable person,' said a police spokesperson.

BEACON HILL, MA — After someone damaged a window, sprayed graffiti, some of it mentioning a former president, vandalized the State House and other nearby buildings over the weekend, police are investigating.

"The spray painting included two brief rants about President Obama but there was other spray painting that was not," State Police spokesman David Procopio wrote in an email to Patch, confirming the vandalism.

"It was unclear [if it] was truly politically-motivated or more of an unstable person," he said.

Procopio said DCR Park Rangers discovered some spray-painted graffiti and damage to a door window at the State House early Sunday morning.

“Troopers responded and determined that numerous other buildings on Beacon Hill (privately-owned buildings) and at least one privately-owned vehicle in the area of Derne and Hancock streets were also damaged by spray paint and physical damage,” he wrote.
