Huge Salad Recall by Garden Fresh Foods Includes Many Brands
More than a dozen brands are affected in the recall.
Garden Fresh Foods is recalling various ready-to-eat salads, slaws and dip products sold under various brands and code dates because the products may have been contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes.
The brand names affected include Market Pantry, Archer Farms, D’Amico and Sons, Roundy’s, Grandpa’s, Maggie’s, Finest Traditions, Chef’s Kitchen, Garden-Fresh, Weis, Spartan and Portillo’s.

Listeria monocytogenes “can cause serious and sometimes-fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems. Although healthy individuals may suffer only short-term symptoms such as high fever, severe headache, stiffness, nausea, abdominal pain and diarrhea, Listeria infection can cause miscarriages and stillbirths among pregnant women,” said the FDA.

The products were distributed in a number of states, including Massachusetts.
There have not been any illnesses or complaints related to the recall, according to the FDA.
