LETTER: Farewell From Your Beacon Hill Patch Editor

Dear readers,

I write to you today with a bittersweet message: Today is my final day as the local editor of Beacon Hill Patch.

As many of you may be aware, Patch is undergoing major nationwide reorganization, and my job was one of those impacted by the reorganization.

I already have a new writing job lined up in the local area that I’m excited to start next week. But it’s difficult to say goodbye to Patch after devoting over two years of my life to this company.

I regret that my time covering Beacon Hill and nearby Back Bay didn’t last as long as I’d hoped. I started here five months ago (after spending nearly two years as the editor of first Salem N.H., Patch and later Medford Patch) and in that time I met some great people, covered exciting happenings locally and at the State House and, perhaps best of all, this beautiful part of Boston got to be my office just about everyday.

I loved getting off the Red Line at Charles/MGH and walking down Charles Street each day before heading to a place with WiFi for work.

A lot gets made about how protective Beacon Hill residents are about their community. But when you walk down Charles Street, one of the few major commercial streets left in any major American city that is almost entirely single-location small businesses, it’s easy to understand why.

Even though I will be leaving Beacon Hill Patch, the website itself isn’t going anywhere. You will still get local, regional and national news and information here. Part of what will continue to make it a great place for that information is you. I invite you to post your news, announcements, events, blogs and other info on the site directly. It’s very easy and I hope you will take advantage of everything Patch has to offer.
