Train Kills Woman in Downtown Crossing

Part of Red Line has been shut down after the woman was reportedly struck in an MBTA right-of-way.

A woman was hit and killed by a train in Downtown Crossing Wednesday evening, causing part of the red line to be shut down.

Transit Police said the 42-year-old woman was trespassing on a right of way when she was struck, WHDH, 7 News reports. Two firefighters are also being treated after a problem involving the third rail, the TV station reports.

Shuttle buses are running between JFK and Harvard until trains are running again. The incident remains under investigation.
