Volunteers Needed: Help Take Down Memorial Day Flag Garden

The Massachusetts Military Heroes Fund is seeking a hand today at noon.

Boston, MA - For those with time over the lunch hour, the Massachusetts Military Heroes Fund is seeking a hand taking down its 37,000-strong Memorial Day Flag Garden this afternoon.

Heavy rains Monday delayed the take-down because, organizers said, the flags cannot be stored while wet.

The non-profit has rescheduled removal of the Memorial Day Flag Garden to Tuesday at noon.

"If your schedule permits, please stop by the Soldiers & Sailors Monument on Boston Common on Tuesday during your lunch hour to give us a hand," the Military Heroes Fund said on its Facebook page.

The annual display on the Common honors Massachusetts' fallen soldiers since the Revolutionary War. It was assembled by hundreds of volunteers, and funded through a combination of individual and corporate donations.
