Boston Fireworks Travel, Safety: What to Know

"No credible threat" to this year's celebration in Boston, police said.

There's nice weather on tap for this year's Boston Fourth of July celebrations, but an undercurrent of wariness ran through a press conference Wednesday discussing security plans for the annual event.

Reporter questions centered on security, citing the shooting in Orlando earlier this month and subsequent attack in Istanbul this week. Officials said there is no credible threat to Boston's festivities at this time, but that they have plans in place for multiple scenarios.

Mass. State Police said additional officers will be present during the event, in uniform and in plainclothes.

"We pull off the marathons every year and this is no different," he said.
