Bedford Firefighters Help Deliver Baby
This isn't the first time local firefighters have helped bring a life into the world.

Bedford firefighters made a special delivery Thursday, helping bring a new life into the world.
The Bedford dispatch center received a call at 6:40 a.m. Thursday requesting help for a woman in labor at work. Firefighter/Paramedics John Perry and Patrick Stewart responded, along with Firefighters Sam Panzeri and Dana Park.
Just five minutes after the firefighters arrived, the mother delivered her son. Both mom and baby were doing well upon arrival at Emerson Hospital in Concord, the department announced.

This isn’t the first time Bedford firefighters have helped bring a life into the world. In fact, the department has helped deliver three babies in the past 18 months alone. In his career, Perry has helped deliver 15 babies. This was the fourth time for Stewart.
“As emergency responders, far too often we deal with unhappy situations and outcomes, so it is very uplifting for our firefighters to directly help bring a new life into the world,” Chief David Grunes said in a release. “We are also proud to offer high-level services like Advanced Life Support to our community. Our trained paramedics were able to respond quickly and assist mom and baby with the highest levels of training available in the field.”
