Bedford Rt. 225 Bridge Closures Next Week
There will be temporary closures so that resurfacing work can begin.

BEDFORD, MA – The Rt. 225 Bedford Road Bridge over the Concord River in Bedford/Carlisle will be closed to vehicular traffic between 8 p.m. and 5 a.m. on Wednesday, April 11 and Thursday, April 12, according to MassDOT. The closures are necessary so that crews may remove the asphalt wearing surface on the bridge in preparation for installing a new surface.
Additional overnight closures will happen in April and May.
The following detour routes will be in place during the overnight hours on April 11 and April 12:

- All vehicular traffic will be detoured at the intersection of North Road and Carlisle Road onto Route 4 (North Road) northbound.
- Vehicles should continue on Route 4 North Road in Bedford, which then transitions to Chelmsford Road in Bedford, and Nashua Road in Billerica.
- Then turn left onto Treble Cove Road (heading southwest) in Billerica, which becomes Maple Street in Carlisle.
- Then turn left onto Maple Street at the intersection of East Street.
- Then turn left onto Maple Street at the intersection of Brook Street.
- The detour ends at the intersection of Route 225 Bedford Street in Carlisle
Route 225 Eastbound (Bedford Road)
- All vehicular traffic will be detoured at the intersection of Bedford Road and Maple Street in Carlisle onto Maple Street heading northeast.
- Then turn right onto Maple Street at the intersection of Brook Street.
- Then turn right onto Maple Street at the intersection of East Street.
- Maple Street in Carlisle then transitions to Treble Cove Road in Billerica.
- Then turn right on Route 4 southbound (Nashua Road in Billerica).
- Route 4 Nashua Road in Billerica then transitions to Chelmsford Road in Bedford, and then North Road in Bedford.
- The detour ends at the intersection of Route 225 Carlisle Road in Bedford.
Signage and messaging will be in place to notify drivers of these detours. MassDOT encourages the public to be mindful of potential traffic impacts. Those traveling through the area should reduce speed and use caution. The schedule for this work is weather dependent and subject to change without notice.
