Personnel from the Bedford DPW and a hired consultant, Tighe & Bond, will be inspecting stormwater outfall pipes throughout Town, to comply with the Town’s EPA Stormwater Permit. The team will consist of 2 to 3 people wearing safety vests, masks, and carrying handheld equipment. In addition to DPW utility vehicles, there will be personal vehicles, and all will have a sign in the windshield indicating that the car is associated with a consultant supporting the Department of Public Works.

The work will be performed primarily off the roadway where the stormwater pipes discharge to wetlands, streams, or wooded areas. Some pipes may be located in residential backyards where an easement exists to allow the Town access to perform maintenance. Work may also include opening drainage structures within the road.
