Important Updates: Paper Shredding Event (October 10)

The Department of Public Works is holding a paper shredding event this Saturday, October 10 from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Compost Center.

The Department of Public Works is holding a paper shredding event this Saturday, October 10 from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Compost Center on 108 Carlisle Road.

The event is open to Bedford residents only. There is a limit of five boxes per car and residents will not be permitted to watch their documents get shredded. A proof of residency is required.

To avoid traffic backing up on Carlisle Road and Winterberry Way, the DPW is alphabetically staggering the hours by last name and is asking for residents to come at the appropriate hour.

  • A - F
    • 8 a.m. to 9 a.m.
  • G - K
    • 9 a.m. to 10 a.m.
  • L - O
    • 10 a.m. to 11 a.m.
  • P -Z
    • 11 a.m. to 12 p.m.
  • All Residents
    • 12 p.m. to 1 p.m.

The collection of fluorescent lamps, rechargeable and sealed lead acid batteries, and other items containing mercury is postponed. Residents can continue to drop off these materials in the foyer of the DPW building on Great Road. Moison’s Hardware is another option for properly disposing of fluorescent bulbs. To accommodate those who were turned away from the October 3 recycling event due to capacity constraints, an additional recycling event accepting the same materials as were accepted on October 3 will be held in November (details to follow).
