Kitchen Fire Causes $60,000 in Damage, Displaces Family

A Bedford family has been temporarily displaced following the fire that occurred late Friday afternoon.

BEDFORD, MA - A Bedford family has been temporarily displaced from their home following a fire Friday night.

Fire Chief David Grunes says members of the Bedford Fire Department battled a Friday afternoon kitchen fire that left one family temporarily displaced.

Firefighters responded to 39 Fayette Road at 4:20 p.m. Friday for a report of a fire that broke out in the kitchen while residents were cooking.

Units arrived minutes later and were able to knock the blaze down after about 15 minutes. There was significant damage to the kitchen, and fire officials estimated the damage at $60,000.

Two residents living in the room are staying with residents, as the home is not yet ready to be re-inhabited.

Fire crews from Lexington and the Hanscom Air Force Base Fire Department assisted Bedford Fire.
